The Governing Body may revise the order of the agenda items considered at an open meeting.
If you are an individual with a disability who is in need of a reader, qualified sign language interpreter, or any other form of auxiliary aid or service to attend or participate in the hearing or meeting, please contact the office of the Village Clerk at (505) 281-1220 at least four (4) days prior to the meeting. Public documents including the agenda and minutes can be provided in digital or hardcopy format. The Village of Tijeras strictly prohibits any form of unlawful discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, sex, national origin, age, disability, or political affiliation in any program, activity or service sponsored by the Village. Pursuant to New Mexico Open Meetings Act (Section 10-15-1 (H) NMSA 1978), the Governing Body may close a meeting to the public for discussion of the following matters: (2) limited personnel matters; (5) discussion of bargaining strategy preliminary to collective bargaining negotiations; (7) attorney-client privilege pertaining to threatening or pending litigation in which the public is or may become a participant; (8) discussion of the purchase, acquisition or disposal of real property or water rights by the public body.
Pursuant to the New Mexico Open Meetings Act (Section 10-15-1 et seq. NMSA 1978), meetings of the Village Council are considered public meetings. Members of the public have the right to attend all public meetings. Except in cases of emergency, agendas will be posted at least 72 hours prior to the meeting. Draft minutes for each meeting will be posted within ten (10) working days of the meeting date, in accordance with Section 10-15-1 (G) of the Open Meetings Act. Minutes are not official until approved by the Village Council.

Notices of Potential Quorum
Occasionally, a majority (or “quorum”) of the members of the Village Council may meet for a purpose other than a public meeting. For example, the entire Village Council may attend an event such as the Winter Celebration. Such instances are not considered a public meeting and no agenda is required. However, the Village publishes a “Notice of Potential Quorum” to notify the public that a quorum of the Village Council may gather in a single location and to certify that the members of the Village Council will not formulate any official Village business.
